Demographics
Olivette is located in St. Louis County (the "County") approximately 10 miles west of downtown St. Louis. The City covers approximately 2.77 square miles in St. Louis County and is within a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) which, at the time of the 1990 Census, was comprised of the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, and parts of the counties of St. Charles, Franklin and Jefferson in Missouri, and parts of the counties of Jersey, Madison, St. Clair, Clinton, and Monroe in Illinois. The MSA now also includes portions of Lincoln and Warren counties in Missouri.
Interstate 170 borders the City along its eastern edge. This highway provides excellent access to the St. Louis metropolitan area connecting with Interstate 70 four miles north of the City and Interstate 40 two miles south of the City. The City is traversed by Olive Boulevard which is the main business corridor of the City.
The City is a suburban residential community with an economic base represented by a mixture of manufacturing, commercial enterprises, numerous small specialty shops, and support services.
Regularly scheduled air passenger and freight service is available at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport located approximately 6 miles north of the City.
