Community engagement is nothing new for the Olivette Police Department. OPD will participate in the annual The Law Enforcement Torch Run® on Thursday, May 19.

Thursday, May 19th, the Olivette Police Department will run with 90,000+ law enforcement participants in 50 states and over 40 countries for the event that raises $58 million+ annually for the Special Olympics.

Nearly 150 agencies and 6,500 officers work year-round in Missouri to accomplish this goal. All funds raised go toward supporting Special Olympics Missouri's year-round sports training and athletic competition program for more than 15,000 athletes across the state. If you are a business in Olivette or would like to donate, please send all donations to the Missouri Special Olympics.

The event is set to start tentatively around 12:15 – 12:30 pm. This can fluctuate depending on speed, road construction, and weather conditions. One lane of traffic will be closed briefly on Olive going westbound while the runners make their way to Price Road. They will then travel south to Ladue Road. This will close the southbound lane of traffic for Price for about 15 minutes. Motorcycle traffic officers will let cars pass if/when feasible. Runners will then travel west again on Ladue Road to Briarcliff where Olivette runners will end their portion and pass off the run to Ladue.
