Scam Alert

website (35)

The Olivette Police Department wants community members to be aware of a phone scam that is currently active in the St. Louis metro area.

Officers have received reports from community members who stated that callers contact them claiming to be members of the Olivette Police Department. The law enforcement impersonator often:

  • refers to the community member by name,
  • The caller states they need to send money.

Sometimes scams such as these will include spoofing a legitimate police agency phone number and using a law enforcement officer's actual name to gain the victim's trust.

The Olivette Police Department reminds you to be aware that:

  •  The Department does not call individuals and solicit or request money from community members under any circumstances.
  • The only time the Department will solicit time donations is during the Special Olympics Torch Run, and those donations go directly to the organization.

If you have any concerns, please contact the Department's non-emergency number at 314-983-5279 or Dispatch at 314-645-3000.
